    FAQ

    Your Eye Care Questions Answered!

If you’re considering LASIK surgery and wish to know more, read on to learn the answers to some of the most common questions we receive from our patients regarding LASIK eye surgery. In case you have a question of your own that is not listed in this article, please feel free to contact Krishna Netralaya today!

The LASIK procedure itself usually takes about 15 minutes per eye. However, you should plan for additional time for preoperative preparations and postoperative instructions.

LASIK is a virtually painless procedure. You may feel some pressure or discomfort during the process. Still, numbing eye drops are used to minimise any potential pain.

While LASIK aims to reduce dependency on glasses or contact lenses, some individuals may still require them for certain activities or specific vision needs, such as reading small print or driving at night.

It’s important to note that serious complications are very rare, and most people have a smooth recovery and are able to resume their normal activities within a few days or weeks

    • PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) or surface ablation: In PRK, the cornea’s surface layer(epithelium) is removed and then reshaped using a laser. It’s suitable for people with thinner corneas or specific eye conditions.

    • SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction): SMILE is a minimally invasive procedure where a small incision is made in the cornea, and a lenticule (a thin, disc-shaped layer of tissue) is removed to reshape the cornea. It’s used to correct nearsightedness.

    • ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens): ICL involves placing a unique contact lens-like implant inside the eye to correct vision. It’s often used for people with severe nearsightedness or those who are not suitable candidates for laser surgeries.
